The Tripura Board of Joint Entrance Examination 2002 will conduct Joint Entrance Examination for the Session 2002-2003 at Agartala, Udaipur and Kailashar for admission to Engineering, Medical, Technological and other professional Degree Courses against seats reserve for the state of Tripura including the seats of Tripura Engineering College as detailed below:

Each of the subjects of Examination will be 100 marks. Candidates seeking admission to Engineering/Technological Degree Courses (Group-A) will have to appear in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and those seeking admission to Medical/ Agricultural Courses, etc. (Group-B) will have to appear in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Those desiring to take chances in both of the above groups will have to appear in all the four subjects (Group-C).

The Standard to question will be such that an intelligent student completing the (10+2) Higher Secondary course of Tripura Board of Secondary Education or Central Board of Secondary Education or equivalent will be able to answer the questions. Candidate may answer the questions either in English or in Bengali. The questions will be in English with Bengali version.

To be eligible to appear at the Joint Entrance Examination, the applicant must be an Indian Citizen and a permanent resident of Tripura in terms of Memorandum No. F. 28 (31)/REV/87 dt. 11.1.96 of the Revenue Department, Govt. of Tripura which stipulates that either the applicant or his/ her parents must have been residing in the state of Tripura continuously for not less than 10(ten) years immediately prior to the date of making application for appearing at the Joint Entrance Examination-2002 and has passed/ appeared, due to appear in the year of Examination at the Higher Secondary Examination of Tripura Board of Secondary Education/ Central Board of Secondary education or equivalent with the subjects in which he/ she desires to appear at the Joint Entrance Examination.

Children of All India Services Officers born in Manipur-Tripura Cadre and the Children of the Employees of the State Government posted outside Tripura will be eligible to appear at the examination irrespective of their prior stay in Tripura.

In case a candidate is not a permanent Resident of Tripura but his/ her parents is an Officer on deputation to the Government of Tripura / Officer of the Central Government working in Tripura and has served in Tripura continuously for a period of 3 (three) years or more and passed Higher Secondary Examination from an Institution of Tripura, he/she is eligible for seats of Tripura Engineering College only.

If a candidate is allotted a seat in the past inside or outside the State on the basis of result of Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the Tripura Board of Joint Entrance Examination, he/she shall not be eligible to appear at the Joint Entrance Examination this year and in subsequent years unless he/she has surrendered the allotted seat in writing within specified time to the appropriate authority.

There are 128 seats in Tripura Engineering College in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Computer science & Engineering. For other courses, number of seats will be known when communications from the respective sources are received. Reservation of seats for SC/ST candidates will be as per State Govt. approved norms. One seat of Tripura Engineering College is reserved for son/daughter of Defence personnel either killed or invalidated in the War field or in an accident.

It is to be noted that the admission of a candidate to a certain College/University will be subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria of the College/University. As for Example, the academic eligibility criteria of Tripura Engineering College is a pass in Higher Secondary (10+2) stage with five subjects from a recognized Board with 50% of marks in aggregate of physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for general candidates, for SC and ST candidates these marks are relaxed to 45% and 40% respectively.

The seats of Regional Engineering Colleges reserved for Tripura will be filled up from the merit lists of this Joint Entrance Examination. However, the candidates aspiring for the seats of Regional Engineering Colleges will have to apply to the Regional Engineering College, Silchar as per their advertisement in addition to appearing at the Joint Entrance Examination of TBJEE 2002.

The eligibility conditions for admission to Regional Engineering College & reservation of seats for ST/SC candidates will be as per their rules. The candidates eligible for admission to Regional Engineering College are eligible for appearing at Joint Entrance Examination.

The applicants should indicate the choice of Examination Centre in his/her application form. However, the final allotment of the Centre to a candidate will be at the discretion of the Board. Incomplete application in any forms is liable to be rejected. No refund of enrolment fees is admissible irrespective of whether the candidate appears or not at the Examination or if the application is rejected.

The applicants should read thoroughly the Eligibility criteria to satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility for appearing at the Joint Entrance Examination and in respect of seats and apply accordingly. All applicants who appear to be prima-facie eligible may be provisionally permitted to sit for the Joint Entrance Examination. If after scrutiny at any stage, it is found that an applicant is otherwise ineligible for getting a seat, his/her candidature will be automatically cancelled even if he/she appeared at the Examination & secured a position in the merit list.

The Board will publish the Merit List through public Media. It does not have any provision for post-publication scrutiny and review of the result and hence will not entertain any such application in this respect.
